More about Foreland ›

Foreland is a road trip through the Coromandel into an underworld.
A coded world concealed between man-made materials and nature is travelled using a collaboration of colours, tones and forms. Evidence of long forgotten summers fades. Signposts dissent, exclaiming new directions, everyday symbols become symbolic of new ideas. Foreland argues our impermanence. Motifs are mapped out and ordinary objects are clues directing us towards other messages, grander themes.

Foreland consists of 30 separate works. Large abstracted landscapes blend amongst visceral close ups and smaller pop art-like concepts shout with urgency. All images are candid, observing the region ‘as found’. The region is regarded not only as a place ----to work and play but also as a place to imagine, create, mourn, live, loathe and love. The Foreland images are inscribed with irreverence and wit, resonate with optimism, and ce-lebrate the Coromandel - and life - intensely.
